UAYEB is a an singleplayer story-driven adventure and puzzle game with survival elements. Players take on the role of Uayeb, a game developer in a past life, now lost in a forgotten land retaken by nature. With the help of your friend Joanna, you will explore and survive in this hostile environment, unveiling clues and artifacts leading to the lost Mayan civilization.

Features[edit | edit source]

This is not a survival sandbox game. The survival elements are used to add variety and difficulty to the adventure. The game is driven by a story that will go through four episodes. Each episode is a full game of 20 to 30 hours of gameplay.

You, as Uayeb, will explore and survive in a hostile environment. You will find clues with the help of your friend and archeologist Joanna to discover Mayan artifacts that will lead you to the lost civilization. You will craft your own equipment from scavenged parts and resources to be ready for adventure.

Solve Puzzles[edit | edit source]

Nothing in UAYEB will be shown with a big arrow - you will have to think for yourself to know where to go. To solve puzzles, you'll be helped only by Joanna's clues that she has hidden somewhere in the world.

Survive[edit | edit source]

Drink, eat, sleep, manage your temperature in cold and hot environments, conserve stamina, heal your injuries, charge batteries, and scavenge and craft weapons and ammunition. Avoid deadly traps, stay alive in underwater caves, jump on moving Mayan platforms, and keep from getting impaled on sword traps that arise from the ground.

Explore[edit | edit source]

Explore a vast world with deserts and sand dunes, forests and waterfalls, beaches, and a lost city. Find clues that will lead you to Mayan artifacts.

Crafting[edit | edit source]

Find blueprints and collect resources to build your own equipment.

Fight[edit | edit source]

Defend yourself against hostile survivors with three different firearm weapons and melee moves.

Artifacts[edit | edit source]

There will be a lot of Mayan artifacts to find in the first episode. Each artifact will be its own "level", complete with traps, platforms, puzzles, and sometimes enemies. You will need to find clues to be able to reach the artifacts.

You will encounter moving platforms, unstable parts or planks, sword traps, falling spike balls, sulfur sprays that will throw you in the air, and a few more surprises!

Time[edit | edit source]

Like the real world, the time in UAYEB will turn around 24 hours. One hour in real life is around two and a half hours in-game, or about 9 and a half real hours per in-game day. You can sleep at any time (if you have a bed), to rest and pass the time faster.

Extras[edit | edit source]

There are also music bonuses to find and various easter eggs referencing games and films.

Length[edit | edit source]

Episode 1 will be between 20 to 30 hours of gameplay depending on your skills. It could take you even more time as you can live and explore the world without restriction, as long as you eat and drink.

Team[edit | edit source]

UAYEB was created by one person, Francis Courchinoux, and two voice actors - Martyn Luke and Katabelle. For more information about the team, read their bios here.
